Can anyone id the small ruby/red cased vase please
« on: February 20, 2018, 03:46:07 PM »
Hi.  Hoping someone can help.  I found this small cased vase in the North West of England.  At first sight (mainly because of the colour) I thought it was a small whitefriars piece but now I'm more inclined towards Scandinavian.  It measures 4 and 5/8 inches in height and is about 2 and 1/2 inches in diameter at the base.  It weighs just over 420 gms.  I think the piece is blown moulded and am not convinced the pontil has been ground out and polished but is perhaps moulded.  Also the rim is slightly 'rounded' not sheer and polished as I have seen with other Whitefriar pieces similar to this.  I could be completely wrong and perhaps it is a Whitefriars piece but if anyone can id it, it would be much appreciated.
