Picked up a lovely damaged decanter with a capital H. which is enameled to the base where the broken pontil scar is, The cutting is a lot better than many of this style i have owned in the past namely a bird sat on a nest of four eggs. My question is can this be dated or indeed known where it was made my personal opinion is it feels a lot earlier than others i have owned in the past the rigaree which goes underneath is flat from movement on the base.
Thanks

Hi Bat20 thanks for linking i had briefly read this article i believe it is 18th century going on proantique example which M links to on the second page sorry i dont know how to link pages etc mine is much better engraved in my opinion and the engraver signed his work i would even suggest it looks earlier than the example on proantique going by the bases.
Thanks
