Yellow uranium glass piano rest with hobnail base.
« on: October 17, 2018, 03:40:41 PM »
Any ideas as to the maker of this yellow uranium glass piano weight would be appreciated.
The top is smooth and rounded with a rounded step, but the base has a hobnail pattern made up of square flat pyramid shapes.
Its a bit difficult to photograph as the base shows through making it look messy.
Thanks for any help :)

Does it actually sit level on all the feet Anne?

Absolutely level.  Must be the angle I took the photo ::)
I spotted a Percival Vickers one shown in one of their catalogues which looked a little similar, but this was a line drawing and I can't for the life of me find it again.  It gave a suggested date of around 1859, along with some others.  I'll see if I can find it...

I think this is what I saw here https://sites.google.com/site/molwebbhistory/Home/registered-designs/molineaux-webb-unregistered-pressed-glass/misc - scroll down to 700.  Its Molineaux Webb and not Percival Vickers as I thought.  Its the same shape except the base may be different   Its difficult to tell from a line drawing. However the line drawing shows the base as not being perfectly round and smooth, and when I look at mine, it has an almost scalloped outline due to the hobnails.  Just wishful thinking may be ::)
