unknown ‘pulled feather’ paperweight?
« on: October 29, 2018, 02:30:53 PM »
Hi,

I found this pulled feather paperweight a while back at a local market.
It has some shelf-wear at the rim of the base and my guess is it’s somewhere from the 70 ’s.
There is also a round sticker at the base, but this is no longer readable.
The polished base is slightly bulbous, like a small pedestal.

The paperweight has a diameter of 8,3 cm x height 7,9 cm (3,26 x 3,11 inch), and a weight of 763 gr.

It looks a bit like a paperweight made by Adrian Sankey, but I have my doubts. Could anybody tell me more about date and maker? Much appreciated.

A round black label would tie in nicely with Sankey and as you say the weight looks right too.

It’s not Adrian’s work. The sticker is too small and the base is far too highly polished. And the weight doesn’t look like a sankey weight with those bubbles within the pulled feathers.
So I would not go with Sankey as the maker.

Thanks for the feedback. I already doubted it would be Sankey, but i wonder if the somewhat bulbous base
could be an indicator about its maker?
Cheers.

Hi there,

I wonder whether it could be from Liskeard Studio Glass (LG have definitely produced paperweights with this design but the studio often signed with an impressed mark on the base and/or applied LG labels of different size/shape).

Not sure it helps but this is all I can contribute....
