Blue Glass Vases with Blisters
« on: November 21, 2018, 03:24:52 PM »
I have recently purchased a quantity of Vaseline glass and in the auction lot were 2 blue vases
They both have blisters within the glass, some of which are on the surface and have broken creating a crater effect, with rough edges.
Photos are attached and I would appreciate any help regarding age and origins etc.
regards Keith

I would strongly suspect Spanish or Mexican recycled glass, and fairly recent.  :)

Thanks for your reply, I thought much older given the age and quality of other pieces from the same collector, also very rough pontil, I guess as you suggest from Spain its been "made" to look old regards Keith

They were everywhere, perhaps 10-15 years or so ago. Made as decorative things, often found in ethnic giftware and homeware sort of shops, not to decieve.
