Is this a Stevens & Williams Intaglio Cut Wine Glass
« on: January 03, 2019, 06:37:27 PM »
Help please to confirm if this is a Stevens & Williams intaglio cut wine glass. The blue glass bowl is cut back to yellowish amber colour glass with a finely cut pattern. The stem and base is made from clear glass and also nicely cut.

Height 8.5"
Weight 201gm

I thought it may date to early 20th Century.

Thanks Roy

Certainly has the quality of S&W's and there is a wine glass on page 67 of 'The Crystal Years' in a very similar colour.

Looking through Charles Hajdamach 20th Century British Glass on page 29 the vase in the center  has a very similar cut pattern like lily pads / horse shoe shape which was a pattern designed by Joshua Hodgetts . Do you think that may be a possibility.

It has all the hallmarks, great piece and can't think who else made wine glasses like this, there are some on ebay claiming to be S&W's the prices are incredible !

Thanks Keith

My wife and I found a ring necked decanter on Andrew Lineham's website in the same colours and at the very least a very similar pattern attributed to Joshua Hodgetts.

I am finding it a little difficult to comprehend what I may of found as I have a complete set of 6. All the same shape, very slight difference in height. The cutting on each glass also shows slight variations which I think would be normal for hand cut glasses.

I think a little more research to be done to comfirm.

The glasses have been confirmed as Stevens & Williams 1898/1902 and attributed to John Orchard.
