Possibly another mystery set - Mystery #177
« on: March 08, 2019, 10:02:45 PM »
I've looked through the mysteries twice but I couldn't see this one (after checking all the known ones of course!)

Maybe I'm tired but...  :-\

Dimensions are as follows

Tray - 30cm x 20cm x 3cm
Powder Bowl - 9cm diameter at widest point, 6cm at base.  Stands 10.5cm tall.
Candlestick - 7.5cm across base, 3.5cm across top.  Stands 12cm tall

Hi Linz, it's still a mystery and one we don't (for some odd reason) currently have in the Gallery so it needs adding. :)

We have discussed the set before on the board although it's not easy to find unless (like me) you've been around long enough to remember it, so I've dug out the earlier topic and here is the link to it: https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,60614.0.html  - as you will see Fred wonders if it could be a variant of the Libochovice 1860 series, which I had also considered but I'm not really convinced that it is, so for me it remains a mystery and I'll keep hunting through catalogues to try and resolve it.   May I add your photos to the mystery gallery please?

No problem Anne.

I looked at the trinket pots on the Libochovice 1862 and I can't really see much resemblance I'm afraid.

The pattern on my powder bowl doesn't match the one on GTS, plus the base is plain on mine and the finials are different shapes.

Yes I agree Linz and the rim on yours has the flat sections whilst the 1862/3 pots are continuously ribbed. So I am feeling more sure the more I look that they aren't an 1860-series variant. What's also curious is that so far I've only seen these in pink as fare as I can recall....  I'll have another hunt through my mystery folders though to see if there are any other colours I've missed seeing.

Could you possibly do me a quick photo showing the inside of the pot base please as none of the pics of the pink sets show this and it might be helpful. :)

I also have a full set in pink and candlesticks in clear, and it does not feel like Libochovice to me either.
