Orrefors fish graal question
« Reply #10 on: August 19, 2006, 12:10:28 PM »
Coincidentally, on Tuesday I had to photograph my own piece of Fish Graal for a magazine article:

http://www.glassfairs.co.uk/fishgraal.htm
http://www.glassfairs.co.uk/fishgraal-sig.htm

The signature appears to be quite different to that shown on the base of Paul's vase. The signature is smaller and more controlled, there is no date and the pattern number uses a different format '301-G'.

I don't know why, but I have always considered this vase to be an early example. Can anyone corroborate this?

David Hier, your fish graal was done in 1972.

At Orrefors, the artists did not sign their works with one exception in the 1980's demanded they certain works. There was a revolution.

The Orrefors works had employees sign the work and enter the data in written legers. I have gone through these legers which are quite interesting.

I presume you based that on the '301-G' marking?

David.
