==> It's got a sticker
==> there is no question as to identity
==> it's as modern as it gets (the Czech republic did not exist before 1990)
==> Maker is one of  the Bohemia factories
==> I would not call it a banana dish but a centerpiece or posy holder

Yes, the board is working
Yes, some of us are here
Yes, some of us are otherwise occupied (it's the summer holidays)
Yes, we don't know any more than you do :)

Please be patient with us - not everyone checks the board every day even when it's not the summer holidays and the sun is (for a change) shining. :D

BTW I have a similar-shaped but unlabelled/unmarked thing which I have always thought of as a banana dish - a name I have only seen used in the US I think though - but again I have no clue as to maker of either yours or mine:    http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-115

Hi,
As modern as it comes, post 1992, in terms of date of manufacture, and the label is no great indicator, as it is used by both Sklarny Bohemia, Podebrady and Sklo Bohemia at Svetla nad Sazavou, from 1993 if it states Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia was used before that for three years at most). Very difficult to find a named designer for this item.

Regards,

Le Casson

Thank you everyone so much.  Please don't take it for granted that everyone knows that because it has a sticker it's new. I am just learning. I have several old pieces of other glass with sticker's. This is my first piece of Czech.
Please be patient with me, as I am trying but don't have 20 years under my belt.
However if you need a good strudel receipe, then I'm your contact  :D

Now now, stay on topic please or it'll be off to the cafe for your strudel.

Vintagerose, can I ask for a closeup of your label on this piece please? We have a label in yellow which looks similar but I don't think we have a blue example in the Labels Gallery so it would be a very useful addition. Many thanks. :)

Ivo, you said you consider this could be a posy holder - I'm not convinced it would work as such as the sides are too shallow to hold any water in - surely a prerequisite for a posy holder?

I'm also puzzled as to what use they'd be for bananas really... they are a very impractical shape in my personal opinion! Where did these originate, does anyone know?
