Ernest Gordon coloured vase
« on: October 11, 2019, 08:18:59 AM »

Hi,
Pauls post Ernest Gordon Afors Stem Vase got me thinking about this one.

The GH I understand indicates coloured and clear glass (Jonas) - which this one is.
Can I assume the number 553 is its pattern number?
I suppose what Im trying to find out is whether this series had a name.

Its about 15cm ( 6) high and has a light grey blue colour

I really like its simple but effective design.

Many thanks for looking  :)

Hi,
Just a thought- could the 553 be a date - 1955.03 - and not the pattern number?

According to Miller's Glass Fact File A-Z (Ivo Haanstra) the signature format is fors + model + designer so I think the 533 is the model (pattern) no. Unfortunately that number seems to postdate the only fors catalogues I've found online.

Hi Anne,
I really appreciate your help.
I thought it might be a model number, but its good to have it confirmed.
Many thanks  :)

 Hi,
Had a look at the online catalogues downloaded by kerstinfroberg - as expected, nothing there remotely like mine  -
but as regards to the glass shown all I can say is wow :o
