Good evening forum,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a good website that deals with these often understated black glass stands that sit underneath Deco era bowls and vases. Many Sowerby, Bagley, Jobling, etc pieces have these lovely stands and there are a wide variety about. I picked one up today with a design that resembles a spiders web and is quite tall (yes, I know a photo would be helpful) but my question is does anyone know a site that deals with these stands/plinths/bases, call them what you will. I've had a trawl thru Pressglasspavilion and blackpoppy but the problem is that the photos tend to concentrate on the bowls or vases rather than the bases. Thanks if anyone knows.

Hi  -  we've discussed them here - as often or perhaps more frequently - than they might have been discussed elsewhere  - have you tried the Board's archive?      Have to say I can't recall a spider's web design, but it's a few years since I thought about them.           I seem to recall having boxes of these things, and passed them on to another member here  -  they were once a far more common sight at boot fairs etc. than they are now.

Yes, a picture would be helpful, are you able to upload to the Board?

if you type plinths into the search box over to the top right, this should bring up a few of the Board's past conversations on these things.

thanks  -  good picture, but regret it's not ringing any bells for me  -  hopefully someone will have the answer for you, but do try the Board's archive in the meantime.
