Monart colours (i think but the shape seems wrong)
« on: September 09, 2006, 05:47:36 PM »
This bowl has some age loads of wear to base.
Looks like Monart colours to me but seemingly wrong shape and pontil. Could this be Vasart? It is 19.5cm wide 7.5 high.

Hi David

I am afraid not, it is another example of Çellophane glass' the possibly Czech glass shown here (lines 2-4): http://www.ysartglass.com/Ysart/NotYsart.htm

Once you react I will move this to the glass forum, one day someone WILL ID this stuff.

I had he feeling the shape was wrong even when buying it. However i couldnt leave it at the auction today. Had to pay loads too as it was in lot comprising 4 large boxes. Good job i found a surprise ( foreign ) silver tray at the bottom of one.
Im glad ive seen your page of commonly mistaken Monart. I hadnt before.I'm going back now to memorise everything on it.
Many thanks
David.
