And heres another one, it's much more stripey looking in the flesh than it's come out in the photo, measures 19 cms and has a rough pontilo to base. all your thoughts appreciated, thanks, Gill

Hi,
At first glance I would say Chinese too, but the similar Chinese vases that I am aware of all have clear glass feet on them and I believe rough feeling pontil scars on their bottoms.
http://www.glass.co.nz/Chinese.html
The shape of your vase, the stripes and the marie-foot on the bottom look a good deal like vases from the 1980s that were marketed by Lefton and were made for them by some company in Japan??? The bottom would be smooth, no pontil scar, since they would have been handled with a snap-case. which would have held the vase by the marie\foot while the crimping\finishing work was done.
Sometimes glass items can be very nicely made etc., but unless their is a good bit of collecting interest and or a well known glass making name involved; people tend to shy away from what they don't know anything about. --- Mike

Ooooh yes Mike, thanks for the link, it seems I may have been collecting them for a while! Never thought they were Victorian though. As I said it does have a rough pontil mark so it looks like Chinese still the most likely, thanks for your time and effort, cheers!
