Hi Roy,
I know nothing about Whitefriars, but there is one here:
http://www.whitefriars.com/isit_contents.php?ID=1849
You will be able to compare better.
Maybe Emmi will be along and take a look soon, or Max.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

I am not an expert on Whitefriars penguins....only seen photos and read about them on the various forums....but from my little knowledge, I would say no it isn't quite right.  Why not post the photo on both whitefriars.com and whitefriars.org as there are some seriously more knowledgable penguin lovers there.  Regards  Emmi

Hi Roy, It certainly looks like an Ocean Green penguin by Vincente Boffo who used to work for whitefriars. They were in the catalogue and very popular.  His work records show that 934 were made in this colour. Your exhample has a magnificent beak and very pronounced chest and wings... I have never seen one as good as yours. Check out a past post on the sublect

 Regards Patrick...
PS.  For a picture of the man himself...............

  It's all a learning curve isn't it Emmi?  I wasn't sure, so I kept quiet!    The base seems unusual for WF...are the ducks finished like that too?
I am not a man

Wish I had,  but it's rather fat belly and elongated beak put a negative in my mind!!  Nothing like the penguin photos I have seen.  As for the duck bases, not sure Max as I don't generally "do" ducks.  Emmi
PS  I don't "do" jugs either...find them rather a minefield as there are SO many look - a - likes from Polish and other makers.

Hi , Nobody is infalable...............  I have now CHANGED MY MIND !!!!!!!!
After talking to somebody late last night about why the green should be streaky, he told me of Scandinavian exhamples with more rounded chests and beaks that curved downwards towards the end.
Emmi and Max you can both walk around with your heads held high whilst I can take on a more sorry pose.
I will email this new info to the seller so that he can mention it on his Ebay posting. His penguin maybe however rarer and more desireable than the Whitefriars . Best wishes Patrick.
