Help ID-ing Figural Flower Frog - ID = Sowerby "Flora"
« on: June 05, 2023, 01:51:33 PM »
Can anyone identify this figural flower frog please.  I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.

She is about 7 1/4 inches high and the base diameter is about 3 1/4 inches.

Many thanks.

Thank you so much, I didn't think it would be Sowerby!  I just don't think of Sowerby and figurines as being "in the same box".

The 20th Century Glass link notes what looks like a fracture to the dress.  The dome of my one is extensively fractured.  Also some fracturing to the folds of her robe, under her left arm.  You can see one in photo 4, only just in the picture and there is another just under her arm that extends around towards the bow on her back.

Perhaps a clue as to why they are not seen so often?

The fractures don't look as though they are cracks that have any depth, are they pretty much on the surface only? If so perhaps it would be described as crizzled.

As you say the fractures to the dome look very much as though they are only to the surface and not of any depth.

Those to the robes folds do seem to be deeper.  Right through the thickness of the folds, with the ones under her arm visible within the body.
