F. Vizner Vase question please help
« on: November 14, 2023, 02:50:29 PM »
I do not have any stickers on this vase it just has on the bottom a name
And says " designed by F. Vizner. "
Does anyone know if this is an original? Is it a replica? Is there a series of these vases?
When I checked another website to find more info I can't seem to keep any links open.
If anyone here can help me with info about this vase I appreciate it
I will upload pics in next message, when I try here it say my file too large?
OK resized the files. I am learning alot today,, sorry for my ignorance and thank you for any insight or information on this vase
Thank you

Some private collector's note using a sharpie.

Doesn't feel or look like a sharpie. When I run my finger across it feels engraved

I think it was done have with an electric engraving tool, it appears to be made up of the distinctive series of dots. I'd agree though it was done by a previous owner. I can't find the design but you could try this site.

 ;)
I think we used to describe it as "dremmelled" and I strongly suspect Ivo is teasing.  ;D

I think it was Princ that signed like this, if not then maybe slightly earlier when it was still Beranek production. More of a series of production I suppose, designs were made over a long period of time by several companies, one carrying on from another.

You've reminded me of something, John. I do need the odd poke.  :-[
I've got a Hlava piece, stencil acid etched Ceska, but Hlava is neatly "dremmelled" in capital letters on the base too. It is not a signature (or pretending to be one).
It's the taller of these two.

You can't get much better in design terms than either Vizner or Hlava, lofty names, which shows with both of your vases. Very fond of the Vizner, the sparkly discs work a treat.

I've been trying to remember the exact details without success, but when I was first showing this Hlava off, somebody said something about these unique pieces by the major designers did sometimes get the designer's name added to the bottom - as in mine and quite probably the Vizner too.
It is a spectacular piece. I don't know for sure it is Vizner, but I wouldn't be surprised.
It spoke to me. I didn't say anything but I put a notify bit on. I wanted to know what was going on here.  ;D

BAG Vsetin used to mark some pieces like this I believe

https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,42896.msg239040.html#msg239040

It doesn't help for where it's from but it perhaps might indicate that the writing on the piece came from the factory it was produced in.
