Whitefriars oyster - small size, kingfisher - what number?
« on: October 02, 2006, 03:06:39 PM »
I've looked through all the catalogues on whitefriars.org and in my own book wot I got from Paul (    good buy that was!)  and can't find this one at all.  I can find one 9514 in cased blue or ruby, in the right size (this is the 5 ins one)  but this one is solid kingfisher blue (or whatever blue this is), which is not shown as a colour option in the catalogue.

Anyone know what number it is?

Thank you very much!

I'm giving this a cheeky nudge up the board again, as I would really like to list this darned oyster, but I can't until I know exactly what it is....

any ideas?  The Is It Whitefriars board seems to be coming down on the side of yes it is, but I still don't know if the item number is right or not, as I can't find an uncased colour for this shape at all.

It was suggested that it might be Holmegaard, but that would have been signed.  Would the colour suggest that?  and what about the base (typical ground concave pontil) ?
Thank you very much!

Hiya Lynne, I've not added my tuppennyworth to this before now because I just don't know enough about Whitefriars but I must admit when I first saw your bowl it reminded me of the Per Lutken bowls for Holmegaard (they're not always signed) but I've only seen them in a smokey grey colour. So the answer from me is I haven't the foggiest - sorry  :?

Well I've seen Gulvases in this colour but I think Nic has discovered that they were made elsewhere under licence so I don't know - where's Nic when you need him????

So I am photographing this for the listing, and I held it to the light in a different direction, and lo!  it IS cased....  only visible to the thick end of the oyster, and only if held in the right angle..so I am back to Whitefriars.

Honestly, this glass is SO very confusing....
Thank you very much!
