Tony, I did try looking it up. The way the letters are made of stippling lends me to believe that it might be English.  Maybe someone out there might have a better clue. Terry in Iowa

I have some flint round plates with the same edging and stippled lettering which commemorate royal coronations. I'm sure they're English,
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Hi Tony,

Both Davidson and Greener produced commemorative plates with this kind of frilly edge. As the plate has a racing theme and Thomas Davidson was a keen horse racer, then it is possible that this is a Davidson Plate.

It looks to me much like American Historical Glass - size, shape, design, etc. are all consistent.  Unfortunately, the stuff has been produced, and reproduced so frequently, it is impossible for me to point you in the direction of the maker.  I will say that within the last ten years I have often seen a plate much like it in cobalt blue, showing up in junk shops and antique malls here in upstate NY.

Hi Everyone
Thank you all for your help, just one point, this piece is a dish not a plate.

English was my first choice, it would be nice if it was Davidson as that is my collection.
