And the listing states, "JP Lagny" and says it is a modern maker. I think it's worth a question to the seller to see if they know more. I'll ask.

Hello !
In response to you e-mail.
J.P. LAGNY is a contempory glassmaker.I believe that he lives in Normandy, but I'm no sure of that.I do not know if he still produces. I met J.P.LAGNY it was approximately 20 years ago and I bought several glasses to him (vases, lamps, ...).He was very specialized in engraving with the acid according to the method of ECOLE de NANCY.
Sincerely,
Bernard1873

Not quite sure what you expected then, Lynne.
You have an identified glass-maker, a style of working, and that he was working in France in the 1980's-1990's.
That the eBay seller was able to help you, and secondly us, is a minor miracle.
Some expression of gratitude to KevH for his work is the least one might expect.

Sorry, of course, you are right, every thanks to KevH, and the drat was somewhat flippant.

Mainly because the buyer does not know if Lagny is still in existence, so I can't find out if he made vases of my design as well as the cameo glass he is known for, i.e. the style of working does not match the piece I am looking at.  I would expect yes, but nothing is certain.

I'm not sure, but it is unlikely that anyone else would have made it, and certainly Lagny's work is not likely to have attracted the attention of far-eastern copyists. As it is signed, you should be pretty confident he made it, and not some sweat-shop.
Small glass studios come and go here in France, and they are hard to keep track of.
