Eye baths
« on: October 23, 2006, 10:13:33 PM »
Hi, I've had a few of these eye baths in and out of my hands. Here's a site which explains some of the typical examples.
http://www.eyebaths.com/someglass.htm

I think this one is made by Waterstone glass. It has an embossed stamp: "BRITISH MADE" and a "1" in the centre.

I've also owned an eyebath with "Made in England" and the letter "W" in the centre. According to this site, it's made by Woods (Wood Brothers).

I think this might be a Rosso reproduction or an extremely rare eye bath. One or the other. Come to think of it, the other eye baths he/she has  look like Rosso too.

Hi,

I can't be of much help on the older eye bath, but you are correct about the blue opalescent one being by Rosso. These were made as plain utilitarian items originally, so if you see one done in any sort of art glass it is likely a reproduction by Mosser, Boyd maybe, Summit maybe or one of those other companies who produce this sort of stuff. Rosso has all of their glass made for them by Fenton or one of those other makers. --- Mike

Thank you Mike.

If I find any more different one's, I'll post them here for reference. Including, of course, hand blown bristol blue one's.
