Is this Victorian vase?
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:51:19 PM »
Hi again.
Just wondered if anyone can help me with any information about this pretty vase, which I think may be Victorian.
It stands about 4.5" tall and has what looks like an 'unfinshed' pontil mark ojn the base.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers, John.

It does have a Victorian look to it, especially in terms of shape (the piecrust crimped rim in particular) & it's colour. That strawberry pink with a white lining was quite popular in late Victorian times (I still like it myself!).
As to maker, no idea I'm afraid! It's mould-blown cased glass of a type that was made in all the major glass-making regions of Europe, England, & U.S.A from the late 19th C. onwards. Fenton still make rather similar items today.
I do feel that this piece is Victorian, though. Perhaps someone may recognise the mould design?
Hope this helps a little bit! :)
Marinka.
More glass than class!
