Dessert bowls - Help wanted : maker, design name, date etc
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:49:45 PM »
HI EVERYONE  :D

This is my first time here.

Wanting info on bowls that have been in the family since before I was born.  Inherited 2 bowls one clear one green that are stippled glass with small 'fan' shaped handles on the rim.  Item No 230036546064 on eBay recently purchased but haven't received yet to be able to photograph, nor do I know how to post a photo here but will learn.

Desperately want to know who made these bowls.  Everyone I have spoken to has no info.  The only glimmer has been from this last purchase - at least I have a date to work with but that's all.  Does anyone know who or what CFL Stores would have been in 1939 and where to go to find out.

Can anyone assist please ???

The large bowls measure 18cm and the small ones 11cm, not including the handles.  Known colours which I have are clear, amber & green.   You will see from the above Item No that there are differences between designs with these 3 bowls too which further mystifies me.  Someone somewhere must know something to put me out of my misery.

Julie

Hiya Julie, wish I'd seen this before. I'm, say 85% certain these are Crown Crystal from the late 1930s. There's a rough sketch in the order forms of something resembling them and they appear most often in Australia. (I leave a 15% error rate because the sketch is not enough to guarantee an ID.)

Cheers,
Cathy
