Sklo Union glass
« on: November 10, 2006, 08:51:33 PM »
This is my first time on a message board so help may be needed!

Last year I saw pictures in a book about 20th century glass of Sklo Union glass.  I had never heard of and basically I was hooked by the images.  Since then I have tried to find out as much as possible, but there isn't too much information around.

I have been following pieces and prices for some on ebay and learning a little as I have watched.  I am happy to say that yesterday, my birthday, I received 2 pieces.  They just as lovely as I thought they would be!!

To sum up I need help to know more and are there any exhibitions or sales going on anywhere in the UK???

Thank you for your patience.

Hi and welcome to GMB.

One of the best sites to visit is http://www.sklounion.com which is operated by one of the members here. But you've chosen a good title for this topic as I'm sure Marcus will help you as required once he spots this!

Feel free to post images and share your collection with us :P

Edit: finally got the URL right - comma at end removed!

Another point: there is an exhibition this Sunday at Gaydon (J12 on M40) that's reasonably close for you to attend.

Hi Shropshire Blue - welcome to the GMB.  I adore Sklo Union glass too - I have a little information and some pieces on my site you may wish to look at (you can then look out for similar pieces wrongly attributed going cheap on eBay   ) - I've learned most of what I know about Sklo Union glass through Marcus and his fabulous site and IMO you've come to the best place on the web to learn.  Please post some pictures of your new items if you can - I'd also love to see them.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the trouble to reply to my message.

Unfortunately the exhibition at Gaydon is too soon, but perhaps the next one????

I will have to get my daughter to organise the photo's as her camera has fantastic close-ups.

Thank you again.
