Hi there
I'd be really grateful for any information on two pieces from our collection.
We collect Riihimaki, Holmegaard and some Whitefriars but these two pieces have us scratching our heads!
Someone has just sold a similar decanter (without stopper) on e-bay and attributed it as Whitefriars - the colour's right, but I can't find the style in any catalogues.
The platter is 37cm diameter and clear with a gorgeous dark blue 'blob' in the middle - the blue is quite homegaardish, but it's not signed.
Both pieces have polished pontils and show age ware to base.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi & Welcome,
Well, the decanter is by Aseda, Sweden, designed by Bo Borgstrom in the 60's.
I don't have a clue about the dish though, sorry.

Palo, welcome to GMB.
What country are you in? Sometimes this might provide a clue. Also a photo of the dish from the side, against a white background might help.

Hi there
Thanks so much for your speedy responses - great news on the decanter.
Below is another pic of the platter (sorry, it's not great quality)
I've been cheeky and added another item - hope this is okay.
Possibly
Baxter Scandinavian Vase
series?
It's unsigned with polished pontil.

Might be an idea to start a fresh topic for the vase - does have a Scandi appearance though.
Yorkshire? A foreign land!

I think you'll have a hard time finding out who made the dish - but I have seen this particular colour of green on items from Gistl and/or Joska, both German makers. I could extend this and say I've seen the colour used by Zwiesel, by Maastricht and by Sea Glasbruk. You see, the possibilities are fanning out as the chances of identification diminish....

Just to let you know that there's been a discussion about the decanter (aka Whitefriars vase) which sold on eBay, on the Whitefriars Collectors site. Have a look at the bid history!!
