Not the usual Iittala candlestick - more info please
« on: November 12, 2006, 03:26:20 AM »
Hello

Can anyone tell me anything about this candlestick please eg when it was made, designer etc?
It is said to be Iittala but the only ones I've ever seen are frosty looking and have hoops around them or small balls of glass. The were sold by the millions to desperate wedding guests about 30 years ago before lists were invented.

Thank you. I didn't realise this was related to the other shapes I've seen around.
Will see if I can find out its age. I'd like to have two to actually use, but would be reluctant to do so with something irreplaceable.

Yes, the rectangular and triangle shaped ones are still in production, not this model. Cannot tell you the exact year, perhaps 1981 like the other ones? A 'wild' guess.

The triangle & square don't have as many bubbles. It almost goes without saying that the shape I want I can't have. (sigh).

However I appreciate knowing the style name because I will be on a look out for it. More than one was made and somewhere in the world are 2 just for me. (I hope) Next time I will buy a single knowing that at some point I may stumble over another.

Thanks again
