1. purple and yellow bird: not a clue. 2. Two ducks and a dove: the base just screams Chinese 3. Hollow speckled: I have an identical one in yellow and have not been able to place it. My current thought is that it is from Lafiore in Majorca. They seem to be big on birds. In any case it is not from current production, mine is at least 15 years old. 4. Amber swan: throw it out, it's hideous!

Cat 2. Two ducks and a dove are Murano, I've seen labelled ones with that base. The righthand duck almost certainly contains uranium glass, not a feature of Chinese glass

I started with Carnival glass, then other C20 irridescent, then Whitefriars ducks, then Dartington FT Daisies etc, then Whitefriars Tricorns...when will it end?

Yes it does......I didn't have a test light at the time I posted......but I've checked and it glows more than any other uranium glass I have. I didn't keep the doves as I wasn't mad about them, but the other 2 are really nicely made and look great on the windowsill. Thanks for the info

Hi catshome another positive ID for you....the first one, purple and yellow, is Chinese. It would have had an oval Made in China label on it, and I have lots of them in all sorts of colourways, including 2 like yours. I had a thread running here a few weeks ago about them....I'll see if I can find it again, in the meantime, I was so fed up with sellers listing them as Murano, Isle of Wight, Langham or even Wedgwood, so I listed some of my collection on eBay at a silly price (cos I didn't want to sell them!) just to make a point!!... 200621987094 do have a look! Just found one of the links to a thread I started here.... http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,22246.0.html

Hello Rosie,
Yes - it looks very much like yours so Chinese it is! Don't they look great all together like that (your ebay listing pic). Would you like to offer it a home? I see you're south coast too so email me if you have room for one more and I'll send it on - gratis of course.
Thanks for the info Cat

Hi cat, thanks for that kind offer ....I already have two of this pattern, and recently sold a couple in the same pattern, so it might be worth waiting for a free listing day on eBay and listing it there, and at the same time do us all a favour by listing it as Chinese, with a note to say that unlike many other sellers, you are listing this honestly, and not trying to pretend it is Murano etc.....waddayathink?? I always feel I am banging my head against a brick wall in this one, so if more of us do this, perhaps the people who try to list them as something from Italy or Isle of Wight, will have to change!! There is a black and white one listed for about £9 at the moment...........they are worth about £4 max, Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

No problem..............will put it back on the windowsill where it's been for the last 8 years - at least the dust won't show so much! - and add it to the list to list "when I get a minute". I'm hoping to move next year (once I finish my nursing training) and the prospect of having to pack up all my glass fills me with dread.
Thanks again Cat

Maybe we should take this to the cafe or we could get in trouble! But yes, I am a very mature student (51 tomorrow) and I qualify in February 2012. Currently in A&E at Royal Sussex Brighton and amazed to find I LOVE IT. Prior to starting there I thought I wanted to be a community staff nurse - mainly because I don't really fit with ward routines, but A&E has that in common with community - not routine at all. Would love to hear more about where you've been and what you've done - but might be more appropriate to email off board.
Off to revise for drug exam Monday Cat
