Topic: Help with id on the fishy vase...

So here is another kettle of fish on a smoke coloured vase.

As it came with several pieces of Holmegaard, and the seller told me it was, I assumed it to be Holmegaard.

But seeing the same type of fishy design on this WF piece makes me wonder.

But your fishes don't have that Champhered top rim do they Ivo?

p.s. what is the difference between champhering and bevelling?

And you don't have a big fish/whale on the other side. Also, these wF fish are in a shoal, not all around the vase.

The fish design itself is very basic. I recently bought 6 cut tumblers with similar fish on them from TKMaxx, made by Krosno.

But your fishes don't have that Champhered top rim do they Ivo? p.s. what is the difference between champhering and bevelling?

and a bevel is any other angle than 90 degs.

no the smoke vase is light blown glass, not thickwalled so there is no edge finish. And no the decoration does not strike me as "basic"...

Ah right, so basically the two terms are interchangeable!

Ivo, yours does not have the heavy base shape as do the W/F either, looks a lighter piece of glass altogether to me.  Nice though. Can't say if it is Holmegaard or not as I do not know.  Emmi

You've picked the wrong man to make TOGGLE comments about... The word you're looking for is WOGGLE... and yep I was a WOGGLE wearer, indeed a professional wearer of woggles for 17 years.....

and if that dosen't make much sense to none Brits....A woggle is the name of the thing that Scouts (Boy Scouts, Pathfinders... ) wear to keep their scarf in place....
