A Jobling? Ballerina signed Tchecoslo... ID = Rosice

This one now belongs to a friend here in Hamburg and we feel mixed...

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150052618697

http://www.buntglas-hamburg.de/index.php?option=com_ponygallery&Itemid=26&func=detail&id=177

It seems to be Jobling in every respect but bears two marks at the base: one seems to be etched: TCHECOS....
the other one pressed high TCHECOS....

Anyone any idea?

Thank you as always  :)

Pamela, a fascinating mystery. I am afraid I can add very little. I agree, the figure appears identical to the early Jobling Ballerina figure (she was later modified with longer legs & a shorter skirt, see Baker & Crowe pp57-8.) Apparently the original mould was made in France.

Is there any chance of seeing a photograph of the marks? I do have a pressed glass fish figure which has a relief moulded mark 'TCHECO - SLOVAQUIE'. There's a slim chance it could be from the same maker, not that I know who that is yet!

Hi, Steven and Pamela,
The issues regarding these marks are manifold.
Raised marks seem to appear mainly on  Reich and Rindskopf pieces, the acid etched on many. Yet only this week we have another variant on relief lettering, by an as yet un-identified maker. In this case, are we looking at a copy from a better quality European maker, of the original French design???
Regards,
Marcus

The first word looks like it has a letter "K" in it so perhaps "Czechoslavakis" or "Czechoslovakis"?

The second word could be "Tchecoslovaquie"? as Steven has suggested.

hello Pamela,

I've had a look at the picture of the mark. Unfortunately it is unlike any of the marks on my pieces so I can't add a great deal.

It is still a very intriguing item. It does appear to be an exact match to the Jobling figure, leading me now to question whether other examples I have seen in the past were genuine Jobling production or not.

Very confusing  :?

Here are two links to a figurine just like the one Anja has. I have since sold this one.

I have given some details about this one with the photo, the details were found in the records in London for me by Geoff Timberlake.

Czechosloviakia with a T (TCZECHOSLIVAKIA) I have seen this on glass ware myself and I am sure it is for glass exported from Czechislovakia to France, I can not remember how I found this out, maybe this board !!!
