Here is an example of a mark, to the base of a piece for export to France:

Documented vase, so no question as to who used this mark for this item.

Tony please, there must be a knot in our threads - I am still talking about the Jobling Ballerina  :?

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.

again, it's another long shot but i remembered this figure & bowl that I had seen previously:
http://www.antiquecentreworldwide.com/items.php?items_category_id=350&first_item=45

I had always assumed it to be a marriage; however,it is a good colour match and with the discovery of the Czech ballerina, I'm thinking that there is a faint possibility that this is a matched set, all made in Czechoslovakia. Certainly if anyone can recognise the make of the bowl it gives a possible starting point.

I shall not notice on her provenance  8)

best I can tell is that Anja's photos are the nmaximum to retrieve!

fact is: there are two acid etched marks

both say
TCHECOSLOV

the rest is out of sight and unreadable I am afraid
the upper one is 'blank' in matt, the lower obviously made BEFORE matting the whole item

Hi,
Another long wait, of eighteen months, is finally over.........

ID is Rosice, though whether produced while the factory was owned by Vaclav Hrdina, or slightly later, when owned by Bedrich Vrtal, I cannot say for sure.
The ballerina is from a set, pattern number 2483, consisting of figurine, bowl and plinth. Certainly still made in the late 1950s.

Regards,

Marcus
