Signed Dolphin, help with deciphering sig please
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:01:07 PM »
Can anyone identify this signature for me?  I can't seem to work it out.  The dolphin is a lovely piece, good quality, and I would expect it to be a good maker?

Thank you very much!

Looks like Bottow or Bottoni Murano to me!      But Bottow doesn't sound like a very Italian name, and Bottoni means Buttons   :?

Sorry!

First I got Bottom

and then I got Bottorio.... which sounds more likely, but nothing on google.

Pretty though, isn't it!  One of those speculative pieces...
Thank you very much!

The letters in the middle couldn't be 'f's, could they? It doesn't help much though because there's no Boffow, Boffoni, or Boffone.

Any further thoughts on this signature... as the Dolphin moves to the zoo?
