Close Pack paperweight over bronze aventurine base - Murano?
« on: December 14, 2006, 02:38:27 PM »
Am I right to assume that this rather good millefiori over a bronze aventurine base is definitely Murano?  Any one any ideas of possible maker?

That is a very nice Murano.

I do wish I could find a book on identifying Murano paperweight makers.
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

This is what research is all about - finding out the truth. If you see an opportunity to expand your own knowledge and help others in the process, then why not take up the challenge? :)

I'm sure there are many others just waiting for such a book to be published.

I think you have to be of a particularly meticulous mind set to be a good researcher,  I know I am not as good at the minutae as the bigger picture.
Thank you very much!

True confession here: I have seriously considered writing just such a book. It will likely be years before I felt like I had mastery of the subject. I have an eye for detail and I love research.

The process will also involve collecting examples of the different makers. Oh dear, isn't that a shame?  ;D
