My apologies, Anne.

The label is in the non-Murano section, which lazy me should have checked before asking non-lazy you to do some extra work.

David

David and tambam, no shame nor apologies needed.  The file was moved just before I posted my reply #4 above at 18:55:35, which was in reply to tam bam's suggestion of making a change to the text description. As labels are placed in, or can be relocated to, the relevant album there is no need to post a changed description which could confuse things further - we simply relocate the file to the correct album.

The link was amended to the absolute link as I started to read this topic as part of my routine moderator actions which was at 18:48:10, shortly before the image was moved to the Italian non-Murano album.

The link sisco32 originally posted was the dynamic one which gives a different result depending on how a viewer views the album - i.e. sorted by name, date, etc....  and loses the connection totally if an image is moved to a different album as in this case.

The only link you should use for GlassGallery images is the one below it in the File Information section under URL.

This information is in the Help file I wrote for the GlassGallery: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/glassgallery_help.html#Upload - see Step 9 at the bottom of the page.

I trust this makes things clear, and I think this topic has taken up enough of my time today!

Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Hi

This item is known as cased glass where the inner layer is a clearly defined solid yellow colour encased with a layer of Amber glass.  It isn't the Sommerso technique but something very similar.  The Czechs and English especially Stephens and Williams specialised in this style of glass in the mid to late 19th century.  The label is very generic with the ARTE MURANO or Murano Art label so unless you can track down the label, it may be very hard to work out who produced it.  Very nice piece with quite an unusual technique as cased glass is not normally found in Italy.

One correction: cased glass is very common in Italy.

I think it would be useful to have a folder in the glass labels area where (non Murano or Italian) copy labels are kept ie chinese etc.??
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.
