Davidson Glass colours help please
«

Hi
I have just discovered this board and am intrigued by what I find so far. I look forward to reading and learning more.
I am hoping that a Davidson "expert" can help me here. I have seen a cobalt bowl in the Blackberry Prunt (533040) series and was wondering if it could be genuine. I have a red one (that I'm not sure is genuine) but it is the only deep colour I have seen in this pattern. Did Davidson make this range in deep colours or just the lighter ones?
Thanks in advance,
Dee

Hi Dee, and welcome to GMB.
The best web site to help you with your Davidson query is Chris Stewart's
http://www.cloudglass.com
Chris does frequent this board so should be able to help with any other query you are unable to track down. I'm also a small collector of jade and cloud glass, but am no way an expert

Thanks David.
I had a look at Chris's site as its been in my favourites for quite a while. He doesn't mention the cobalt or red there so I guess I'll just wait for him to pop in.

Davidson probably did make the 269 dishes in cobalt blue (they called it midnight) as this pattern was made until the 1970s and midnight was one of three shades of blue produced in the 1960s. I have also seen the dishes in ruby.

Hi,
Davidson made the 269 dishes in many different colours including primrose pearline, purple cloud, jade, flint, amber, green, blue, emerald, antique green, antique blue, peach, ruby, amberina, sapphire blue and midnight blue. They could be others as well !!

I'm trying to remember, but I think I have only seen the 269 in matt black.

Chris — I think the 1+6 set I had through my hands was polished black, but it was a long time ago and I could be wrong.

Hi Bernard,
You are probably correct, the set would look stunning in polished black. I have not seen a 269 in black for several years so they are v. rare.

There was a US shipper, that took any black glass in the 1980's. He used to visit my shop 2 or 3 times a month as well as Camden Lock and took all I could find. Obviously, I do not remember the items but there was a 'lot' about in those days.
