Hi, can anyone confirm or otherwise the id given on Ebay listing number
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160062043135 ?  If not as described, who is the manufacturer and the likely date of manufacture and also what the is the item's intended purpose?

This piece was posted by the owner on the board some time ago:

I can't find it in what I have on Sowerby (a few pages of catalogue and Sheilagh Murray's book) but that's not saying much!

Many thanks for that.  I had a query from one of my buyers about this piece and I thought I would put it to the experts.

I can only assume the seller got their information elsewhere. Maybe you can contact them and ask how they know it's Sowerby.
Cheers!

Adam Dodds might know. he used to work at Davidson's and knew Sowerby's in the late 50's and 60's!
I have just bought a pristine 1948 book on Pressed Glass by Davidson, privately printed by them to celebrate 3 generations of Davidsons, and it is not there.
Looks like a tooth pickholder to me but very late Victorian early Edwardian, turn of the century!
