Finally Fragonard!
« on: January 06, 2007, 04:23:36 PM »

I picked up a piece of Fragonard today in my local Oxfam shop.  Priced at 99p, I paid £4 for it...seemed reasonable to me as I'd have to pay postage on eBay.

I just wondered how many others have bits from this pattern?  Mine's of the lady dangling the grapes with a child at her feet and her beau beside her.   :)

I have three, Max, including a boxed pair. So far I've identified five (incl. yours) and I believe there are six in all.

Thanks David, I've always missed them in the past - I'll look out for that elusive one...another 'treasure hunt'.   ;) :)

Ah, the one in your photo is the same as mine Anne, except yours has a sticker. I've noted the one on Davids' website too.  Aren't you both dying to know what the other Fragonard picture is?  I'll find it somehow.  ;) ;D

Thought I'd add that mine is a plain bowl/dish, not fluted.

Mine was boxed as well Max, (the box is upstairs in the cupboard along with all the other boxes I can't bear to part with - sad or what?!  ::))

The "what" above being sensible....just think about all those poor people who threw their Dinky boxes away!!

Your Chance boxes may make money without any contents one day...
Thank you very much!

Boxes do add a little value, particularly if they are in pristine condition, but not massively so. Still well worth keeping as they take up virtually no extra room :)

I saw a programe recently, where a London jewler gave a woman £75 for an empty box! apparently, if he can match a piece of jewellry to a box he can make a more substancial profit on the piece abroad.
