Wavy-ribbed glasses - any ideas who please?
« on: January 25, 2007, 02:36:59 AM »
I found five of these wavy-ribbed glasses a while back and have only just managed to get pics done of them.

There are no marks anywhere for a maker. No pontil, just a swirly claw-type mark on the base. They have a lovely clear ring when tapped and stand 117mm high and 87mm diameter at the top.

Any suggestions as to age and maker welcomed please. :)
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

A few more to throw into the mix, all Thomas Webb, that may help ID (or not):

Comparison of two glasses, both etched on base and dating between 1935-49 (though probably pre-1939)

Blue glass foot - note very flat base

Clear glass foot and triple-knopped stem, also very flat

'Drape-ribbed' plate, bowl and tumbler

Comparison between Webb and Whitefriars, when viewed from above:

Webb appears square, WF as hexagonal! :D
