Heidi, do you gave a picture of the Solar range? I have an unidentified small dish that has a twist as you describe, so I wonder if it's Solar? It was just an odd one I bought for a purpose and then it wasn't any use, so it's still lurking in the cupboard.  ::)  I also have a set of White Fire dishes (which I'm not keen on) which moved in with Barry, as well as the Sherdley stuff you already know about.

They're not particularly rare or valuable - they're meant to be chuck around glass.  ;D

No, Anne, no picture of Solar, just the brief reference I quoted from C20th Factory Glass. I could probably e-mail Annette Meech herself, as she has a website for her current studio in France. But I'm more likely to get a positive response if I wait until the website is a bit more advanced.

Does Barry have a camera?  ;)

I think there may be one kicking around here somewhere Heidi! ;)  I'll add it to the list of things to be photographed as soon as I've a few spare minutes.  ;D

If you keep chucking your Apollos around, they will become more rare.

They are nice glasses to use. I reckon they don't turn up in charity shops much because folk use and like them. The only problem is the puddle of water that collects in the base in the dishwasher.
When I bought mine, in '77, they were the glasses I was buying for my first flat on my own. Money was tight, but I needed a compromise between economy and style.

I have been accumulating various mould-blown glasses/tumblers (but not s/feista - or the other one you keep tripping over in charity shops, (fruit sets, still boxed, never used, wonder why - not!) one that looks as if it's got flames going up it. White Fire?

We have these as well - we have some of our own that we use because they're virtually indestructable.  We also have a few boxed sets kicking around waiting to be photographed and put up for sale in my shop.  However, I laughed at your comment regarding putting them in the dishwasher - my hubby goes crazy ape if I do that - he treats them like the best crystal and handwashes them only  ::)

I don;t have a dishwasher, hubby reckons they are not good for the environment, so we wash everything by hand .... ::) ::)

I had large and small Apollos for a wedding present in 1977, the large ones were all used out of existence, the small ones were charity shopped 20 years later along with the well-used Sierra dishes and the as-new White Fire dishes given for the same occasion
