Blenko or Scandi????
« on: January 29, 2007, 07:55:33 PM »
I picked this up a couple of weekends ago. The seller said Blenko, but I had my doubts and just liking the look of it, bought it anyway. I have been through all my books on Blenko and nothing there that I could see. I am wondering if maybe its is scandi. It measures 10 1/4 inches high. It has a small rough pontil. I wish more of the lable had survived. Thanks in advance, Terry

tee hee hee - how confusing!  Now I can see what you're actually asking about all I can say is it's similar to something I posted recently and all that was decided for certain was that although it's a very Holmegaard green it's not HG. It could still be Italian - whenever I think something's Scandi it's usually proven to be Empoli  ;D

It's the small, rough pontil that's confusing me. Would I be right in assuming that the Empoli stuff in general won't have a pontil mark? (Question for Ivo, I guess :) )

Holmegaard wouldn't have a rough pontil. I don't think I've seen any Empoli with rough pontils. They would at least be fire polished out I think. Whereas Blenko is known for rough pontils so I think thats still the best bet. Ed.
