Bimini vase???
« on: February 04, 2007, 08:54:33 PM »
Holly's thread and her utterly covetable glasses and picks reminded me that I've been meaning to ask for your opinions on this vase:

I bought it several years ago from a stall at the antiques market in Greenwich, where it was one of two vases that were very similar but slightly different in height and colour. When I asked about a maker, the stallholder said Bimini. Now that I'm older and wiser and (thanks to GMB) know that Bimini is an attribution more often aspirational than strictly accurate, I'm not so sure. But it is a very nice quality little vase and still gives me a lot of pleasure. It's about 9" high and 1 3/4" in diameter at the base. I don't really understand the science of pontils, but the base is smooth and slightly concave. No marks or signature.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Thanks in advance,
Heidi
