Oh dear. Yet again my ability to read scrawly signatures is very much put to the test and found wanting.

This is a very lovely little paperweight, for some reason I thought it might be American? I can't read the signature at all. Because of the background, it is very difficult to even see it on the photo, so I also blew it up and outlined the signature in blue, in case it helped.

It didn't for me, but might for someone more experienced.

Firstly, I know almost zero about paperweights, but it does bear a passing resemblance to Peter Layton's landscape series. I don't know how he finishes off paperweights and could be wildly wrong!

Now, its funny you should say that because I looked at the surname, and thought it looked like the way Layton signs, but I couldn't make Peter from the first name. And I didn't know he made paperweights in that style.

However, they are extraordinarily helpful at the London Glassworks, and have id'd two pieces of his I have had, so I will send pics through - and hope they won't be fed up with me....

I don't particularly, Adam. It was just strange that I had thought Layton, and then thought not - but then, I have seen a Layton signature, and not a William Walker one.

Add to which I have an email addy for Layton's studio, and not for WW...
