Thanks, Pip. As you can see from the pic, Loulie is delighted with them. (And I'm pretty pleased as well...  :D :D :D)

You could be right, David, about selling glasses on to other manufacturers - something to watch out for, I guess.

This is getting a bit off topic, but I just bought 6 of these for a quid off a flea market stall.

This shape isn't on David's web site, so they may be of interest for that reason.

However, the Calypto transfer has the same off-white colour and feel as the roses on the slimjims mentioned earlier.  I guess it's back to the question of who produced the transfers for Chance and others.

Yeah, that's what I mean.

Yours are the shape on the Chance website.  Mine are angular, no gold rims, and the foot is moulded with 8 segments.

I prefer yours, actually  :-X

Actually Chris, I prefer yours as they are significantly different to the normal Copita sherry glass to make me excited and worried at the same time! Can you mail me a hi-res. photo for use in the book? Much appreciated if you can :)

I'll ask Stephen to drop in and give his opinion. This may not be the Nazeing one, but possibly Dema.

Stop the press! :o

Hi David,

Sure.  This evening I'll try and rig up a proper photo for you, no problem at all... other than the quality of my camera!

BTW, I distinctly remember my aunt having these same Calypto sherry glasses back in the 1970s.  It's probably not relevant, but the family lived in St Helens and her father (my maternal grandfather) was a Pilkington employee.

She's on my list of people to call, so I'll see if she remembers where they came from!

Thanks Chris. Standard of photography looks fine! 8)

I do know that Chance, and then Fiesta Glass, were supplying Calypto right up until about 2000, for Pilkingtons to sell through their own shop.

Further to the slimjims with roses of 2 days ago, this morning I found this lonely chubby/chunky?? tumbler with the same pattern in an auction box.  I didn't buy it, just took the photo. It's about 5" tall.

Don't know whether that clarifies or confuses the issue...
