Hi Javier,

I just saw this post! And you have now peaked my interest but the pictures are gone? Have they been deleted? Could you please add them back again! Thanks!

Ingela

Hello Ingela,
Sorry about the photos. I had them on a section of my website that I deleted earlier. I forgot they were posted there. Here they are again!

Ah!  Javier, I'm always doing that...

Looks like your lion is one for the gallery... I try very hard to remember to put things I will want in the future on there.
Thank you very much!

V.Nason also did pieces with similar effects and colour, but without the included bubbles. Ronneby is my guess, but Ingela is better able than me to confirm.

Hi Javier,

This is indeed FM (Färe-Marcolin) Konstglas Ronneby.  I have seen two
different paperweights with the lion, M-78 and M-79. Yours look like M-78.

I have created an album on Webshots with the pictures I have of M-79. There
is also one picture showing both paperweights, taken from a FM catalogue
from the 1980's.

regards,
Ingela

Hello Ingela!
Thank you so much for doing the research on this piece.
It is a very nice weight. Can you give me a little background on the company?
Are the lions unusual or hard to find?
Just curious. Thanks again!
Great pictures too.

Hi Javier,

The company is FM Konstglas in Ronneby, Sweden. It has been mentioned from
time to time on this message board, mostly in the Glass section.

FM is often referrred to as Fratelli Marcolin or Fare Marcolin but this is
not correct . FM stands for Färe-Marcolin.

Here is a short presentation taken from a FM catalogue from the 1980's.

In the 1980's they changed the company name to Marcolin Art Crystal.
They closed down in Ronneby in 1991.

Here is a link to Marcolin Art Crystal with their current collection:

" Are the lions unusual or hard to find? "

I do not know how unusual they are but they do not turn up very often.

Ingela
