As Della wrote above, the maker of "Checkerboard Panels" is currently unknown. Your observation that the star base may suggest a maker is a good one. I agree, it is an interesting star. Of course, it's not likely to be a conclusive piece of evidence, but it's all good evidence.
Anyhow, my take on the matter is this: I've always felt that this pattern had a Leerdam look to it - but there is no proof. It's just my "gut-feel" but that's not "admissible evidence". Anyhow, your suggestion regarding the base star led me to consider other known Leerdam bowls, and I can say that the star base on the "Beaded Ovals" bowl (Leerdam) is the same as yours. So, we have more circumstantial evidence for the Leerdam case.
