Confirms my doubts about the slim jims, I think...

Definitely not a chubbie or a chunkie - about 1/2" too tall, too slender for a chubbie, wrong shape for a chunkie, and base too thick for either. In other words, just not chubby or chunky enough...  :) For comparison, here are a couple of examples:

chubbies: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3995
chunkies: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-4009

One other thing that occurred to me re-reading this thread is that you mentioned transfers on the slim jims, whereas the Sherdley/ Ravenhead tumblers are screen-printed - if you look carefully at the enamel, you can sometimes see the weave of the fabric and sometimes also smudges or different colour stages not lining up properly. (Thanks to David for pointing this out to me when I first started researching them!)

So, all in all, I think we're probably looking at another manufacturer and/or distributor.

Sorry Heidi, the "transfers" remark was my iggerance speaking.  The roses are definitely proud of the surface and seem to be enamel (grey with white highlights).

I note what you say about the size.  The 5" was a guess on my part, using my mobile phone as a ruler, then measuring it up afterwards, but I don't think I'd be more than 1/4" out with my guesstimate.  Ho hum.

Ah well, that at least rules out something!

These are probably a water-slide transfer, if two, or more, colours is used together. Silk-screens with more than one colour have to be overlaid and this is normally more obvious.

OK, I took a strong light and a magnifying glass to them.
David's quite right.  They're transfers.

Interesting, though, if Sherdley/ Ravenhead were selling blank slim jims for decoration by other companies. I'll let you know if I ever come up with any collateral...
