Nybro Sweden
« on: February 21, 2007, 04:39:57 PM »
I saw a paperweight today which I picked up thinking it would be one of Mats Jonasson's pieces.  The label was Nybro Sweden.  The piece was so much like one of Jonasson's - but it was as though he'd forgotten to add the picture.........it had the ice-like edges but other than that it was completely plain.

Curious about Nybor, I did a search on the board but couldn't find much more than that they are one of the few remaining Swedish glass companies.

I wondered if there was any link with Maleras, or is it just coincidence that they make such a similar item.........

Thank you

Ivo - thank you.  Another link for the collection.  It seems very odd that this piece had no design on it - unless it was from their Oceanic series and it's an ice-berg!  Thanks again Cat

Cat, somethings just occured to me about your piece - in the link that Ivo gave there's a section called 'Golf & Awards' which shows an engraved golf trophy.  I'm wondering if your piece is a blank waiting to be engraved?

Pip - that's very funny...........I looked at everything but the golf/awards bit (I loathe sport) and I've just been back and looked and the piece I saw is actually called Iceberg!  ;D.  Now, where did I put my dremel..........
