Daum Peau de Serpent
« on: April 22, 2004, 12:09:06 PM »
Hi,

The vase currently on eBay described as Monart has now been updated to to suggest it is Daum "Peau de Serpent".

Can anyone confirm this and advise when these were made?

Auction pic has gone. Did you keep a copy ?

The only peu de serpant I have found is here but I can't tell if it's glass or not !! Jean Dunand designed in a variety of media.

Ebay pulled the auction....
There is nothing around to show a Daum vase in a snake-skin pattern...though I have personally seen a similar patterning on a acid-treated vase from MontRoye (Pantin Monot Stumpf et Cie :?: )

Regards,

Marcus

It was a year ago but basically looked a bit like this Monart Cloissonne:

close up of technique

dunked in water to crack the surface then blown to stretch open
