STRATHEARN PAPERWEIGHT

Perhaps I'm some sort of thicko but I followed the various advise and instructions from individuals and the FAQ and be damned if I could get them to work ( Frank please delete my 3 postings entitled "test". )

So in Tinypic I previous ignored the instructions regarding Tag and simply pasted in the top line that says "Link". Damned if I know why the first wouldnt and the 2nd did .....but I seem to have got there in the end.

KevH.....one of the photo's I said I'd put on back in December once I found them again

You might not be 'a thicko' Gareth.  I've posted pics straight into a thread before, and couldn't tonight.  Couldn't work out why.

I haven't been able to post pics straight into a thread since the board went down recently.  Thought it was just me doing something stupid

Eventually worked out how to post the links, anyway

Why do we always assume it's us?  I've noticed my sons don't have the same attitude.  *They* assume it's the software or something, *never* their fault!    Is it a symptom of youth v. age?

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for showing the photos of these very nice Strathearn weights. And well done for perservering with the links.

Both weights would look very nice in my collection - so if you get bored with them and fancy sending me a gift ...  8)

These are shown in the 1979 brochure as:

"PSFS102" - Top and side facets and quatrefoil garland within regular garland.

"PPS101" -  Top and single side facet, to stand upright, hence the "Portrait" designation that Richard mentioned previously.

In my view, all of the 1979 range of weights were really good and show what could have become regular best sellers if they had continued the paperweight production.

I can never get the quoting mechanism to work. Very jealous of those who manage to neatly highlight remarks in a previous posting, before answering. I'm sure i am being very dense, so if someone could explain would appreciate it.

Do you mean the bit in the box as above...now I really am gonna feel dumb if this goes pear shaped.
In your posting I clicked on quote
When it appeared in my respose box I highlighted it and in the boxes above you will see one which says "quote"........while the text you selected is highlighted simply click on the "qoute" box and wallah..there it is..........hopefully.

aa...

What I do is this:

1)  COPY what you want to quote before hitting REPLY.

2)  Then in the REPLY box hit QUOTE and then paste what you've copied IN.  Then hit QUOTE again, that finishs the quote.

I find Quote quite temperamental, and simply CANNOT quote halfway through my writing like other people manage to do.  Perhaps my way (above) will work for you Adam.

Thanks Gareth and Max. I'll have a go, but I think glass blowing is a lot less tricky.
