Title: Paperweight ID. ID = Late Vasart / Early Strathearn

New to the board wondered  if anyone could id this?

It's Scottish and a base shot would help to pinpoint its ID

This time period is not my specialty - but my first bet would be Vasart, possibly Ysart Brothers, less likely early Strathearn.

It's the way it's finished that matters. My guess would be late Vasart/early Strathearn, but the experts will tell us.

I would go for an early P7 Strathearn myself (but I am no expert). Quite a nice example.

I'm firmly with the late Vasart / early Strathearn option. I have never known how to decide between the two.

I'm fairly sure that's the earlier, softer shade of yellow in this weight, so I'm in the late Vasart/ early Strathearn camp too.
(pretending I know something about pwts and Scottish glass..... :-[  ;D )

Wuff suggested this might be Vasart or Ysart Brothers.
Since the base is, I think, fire polished this is very unlikely to be from the Ysart Brothers period.

SophieB suggested early P7 Strathearn.
That would depend on the size of the weight - P7 was a "large" size (at least 2.7 inch diameter, according to Richard More's web pages).

Alan was "firmly with the late Vasart / early Strathearn option" and says he has "never known how to decide between the two."
For once, I almost completely agree with Alan. :) Unless weights like this one have a label (Vasart, Pirelli or Strathearn) then it is hard to be sure about an ID. But if they have a ground out base finish then they are unlikely to be Strathearn.
