Title: cannot identify Murano sculpture!
Post by: legaleagle on July 04, 2006, 06:38:21 PM
Hi, I think I may be posting this at the correct site this time...sorry to be a newbie that is finding her way.  I got this beautiful Murano glass sculpture at an auction recently.  However, I cannot find out anything about it.  It is lovely with silver flecks on one side, 12 inches tall, with the world "Glass Studio - Murano" etched on the bottom.  The label is round, red with a gold rim and the words "Made In Italy"  and "Murano" in the center.  Here is the site to the picture No. 162

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Joyce

:D Nice sculpture and two steps closer, what I really meant was start a new thread on the Murano board BUT perhaps that nice Frank will move it for you, so don't do anything!

Hi Joyce -

I answered you in the other thread but will repeat what I posted here.

Last month DenCill/David posted a link to a very similar piece and was wishing someone would buy it for his birthday

Photos are still up and the seller says it is V. Nason

Connie, many thanks.  That is the closest I have come to seeing a similar shape.  I "googled" V. Nason and came upon some interesting sites.  It is certainly a great research project to try and narrow down my sculpture.

I had no idea I would get such rapid replies.  How nice!!!

Hi Joyce and welcome to the GMB. Salviati did a lot of work in the 1970's and 80's in red with silver inclusions. I've had several vases very similar which I e-mailed Salviati about and had confirmed as being by them. I'd suggest that studio as a good starting point on this sculpture.
