Title: Mdina vase is it an early piece?
Post by: mattglass on October 09, 2012, 04:45:34 PM
I have this mdina vase in my collection, and was hoping to find out a little more about it.

It measures approx 4 3/4 Inches tall.

The colours are alot different in natural light, the yellow / green has been brought out by the camera flash. The glass naturally looks more brown / purple.

II hope this is in the correct forum section!

Thank you for looking.

 ;D
Normally when I read that title, my heart sinks as I wonder what recent and widely-known piece I'm going to see, and how I'm going to have to explain why it's not an early bit and let the owner down - but not in this case!

Yes, absolutely,  ;D you have an unsual and early, Harris-period bit of Mdina. We don't have an official name for this sort of shape. Some of us think it's a sort of progression towards the inside out vases, squashed a bit..

Thank you Sue.

I had a feeling it was early, but wanted to check!
